Went on a little camping trip this weekend
Yesterday, as I approached another crossing of Hwy 2 in the Angeles National Forest, I hitched a ride in to Glendale, took a bus into L.A., took Metrolink to the O.C., and rode a bus to my parent’s home in Fountain Valley. I reached 400 miles in less than 9 days, but I have been having an extremely difficult time recovering after each day. Every step of the last 100 miles has taken a massive conscious effort. At this point in my life, I lack the physical and mental capacity to handle the beating for 7 more weeks. I may hike some of the “more pleasant” parts of the trail later this summer, but clearly, the record attempt is over for this year. Sorry everybody. It was worth a shot!
At mile 342, Cajon Pass, chowing down on some McDonalds with my amazing parents! Today at noon (7 days exactly) I hit mile 324, which puts me at roughly 46.3 mpd for my first week. A little behind, but still on record pace! Time to have another burger nom nom nom
Finally finished resupplies, 3 days until start!
On June 1st, in exactly one month, I will begin my attempt to set the self-supported speed record of the entire Pacific Crest Trail. I will be updating my daily location and posting photos via this Facebook page so that it is publicly accessible.
